Net anonymity not backdoored

JAP is a free service which "makes it possible to surf the internet anonymously and unobservably". A few days ago was announced that the service wasn't "anonymous anymore due to a court order (see the press release ) . Today was announced that the order has been suspended:First partial success for AN.ON

The District Court in Frankfurt /Main decided yesterday (Az.: 5/6 Qs 47/03) that the enforcement of the judicial instruction by the Lower District Court in Frankfurt to the partners of the AN.ON project given some weeks ago on request of the German Federal Bureau of Criminal Investigation is to be suspended.

According to this instruction, AN.ON, the mutual project of the Independent Centre for Privacy Protection Schleswig-Holstein (ICPP) and the TU Dresden for surfing the web anonymously, had to record the access to a particular IP address. The project partners have disabled the recording function they implemented according to the first court decision immediately after they were informed about the new decision.
